HCI - Human Computer Interaction
Introduction
A user interface is how humans interacts with a computer, HCI makes computer devices simple and easier to understand as possible. Whilst also increasing the efficeny and the effectiveness all at the same time. If the HCI was bad then it would be hard/slower for the user to use aand therefore less people would be able to use the device.

Where HCI Came From
In the early days of DOS, everyone had to be in the mind of the programmer which not everyone had the skill to do so unless they were trained. So it was almost impossbile for someone with no training to just starting using a computer. In the late 70's the only humans who were able to interact with computer systems were IT professionals. But the fact that only IT professinals could use a computer changed with the release of personal computers. Personal computing platforms and software made everyone on earth computer potential user and slightly showed light on the absences of computers and for the easy access for those people who wanted to use computers as tools as well. Nowadays even a child can go and buy a phone and start using it as the interface is so user friendly.
The future of HCI will increase the users usability to manuvere around the menu's and will also make the technology come in smaller packages such as the iPod and iPad instead of it being on a stationary desktop computer which is relativlty large compared. The easier the technology is for a ordinary person to use the better the product will be and how much easier it will be to sell if it is simpiler. For example the new Google glasses that will be coming out soon has a L.E.D on the right eye which displays the information that is needed or you have recieved and it looks relativily easy to use as different interveiws state.

Impact on Economy
The impact of HCI on the ecomomy has had a positive and a negative effect as shops are going out of business because people can order what they want online and online things tend to be cheaper then the products on the high street so less and less people go to the shops these days so more and more shops will go out of business. But for disabled people or even maybe older people that they cant or it is difficult for them to go to the shops it is an advantage for them to order online instead of going to the high street shops. These days with ordering online it is so simple almost anyone can do it.
Impact on Society
HCI's impact on society increases the way of living, for example in hospitals somethings couldnt be done in hospitals without the use of HCI and computers which essentially saves peoples lives or prevent people getting ill. The mobile phone is an ever growing pandemic as so many people currently have one or will get one in the future and they are becoming easier to use, mobile phones can be used for many things such as friends meeting up or for searching the internet on it. Similarly the trackball is a very effective way of helping/assisting people with arthritis to use a computer as them using a mouse is very hard for them to navigate the cursor around the screen, so it allows them to use the computer where they might not of been able to before hand.
